Come visit The Scrap Exchange, one of Durham’s most unique stores! The Scrap Exchange is a creative reuse center that has been collecting industrial discards since 1991. We have a retail store, workshop room, art gallery, and artist marketplace. The creative reuse center offers thousands of items like paper, foam, wood, wire, zippers, cones and tubes. Our Artist’s Marketplace allows local artists to sell reclaimed and re-purposed art year-round. Our Green Gallery features monthly exhibits that open on every Third Friday in tandem with downtown Durham’s Third Friday festivities. Our next exhibit, “Meditations” by Candace Thomas and Friends, will open on September 17 and run through October 9.
Candace Thomas and other artists will explore meditation through sewing machine, cloth, fiber, and other muses. An opening reception will be held on September 17 from 6 to 9 pm with beverages, snacks and free art-making.
