home-grown documentaries and also provide

will display commissioned design and letterpress
projects and have handmade books and hand-printed

Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc. presents a
rare personal appearance by actress Dee Wallace who
will be hosting a special screening of E.T. The
Extra Terrestrial directed by Steven Spielberg.
The screening will take place in Fletcher Hall at
the historic Carolina Theatre on Saturday, September
16 at
2 p.m.

Our mission is to create a unique 5-acre urban park for the citizens of Durham that provides a variety of activities, with an emphasis on the arts, and serves as a focus for efforts to rejuvenate the surrounding neighborhood. Our vision is to complete the major elements of the park's master plan by 2010, providing the citizens of Durham with an exciting downtown destination that offers a venue for cultural activities and is part of a 24-hour, authentic, walk-able neighborhood for arts, recreation, and locally-owned businesses. Durham Central Park is being developed through a public/private partnership involving the non-profit Durham Central Park, Inc. and the City of Durham's Parks and Recreations Department. Come visit The Scrap Exchange, one of Durham's most unique stores! The Scrap Exchange is a creative reuse center that has been collecting industrial discards since 1991. We have a retail store, workshop room, art gallery, and artist marketplace. The creative reuse center offers thousands of items like paper, foam, wood, wire, zippers, cones and tubes. The gallery will feature the work of artist June Merlino. Vega Metals and Cricket Forge will be open throughout CenterFest. Vega Metals, Inc. is a collaborative team of full-time Artist-Blacksmiths, specializing in Art Railings, Art Furnishings, Site Specific Sculpture and Architectural Ornamentation. Francis Vega received a Durham Arts Council Emerging Artist Award early in his career, and he has gone on to receive numerous accolades, national awards, and major commissions.
